No strings education reimbursement? That’s new. I’d read the fine print .
Fine print. Ours is 6 months
My girlfriend used to work there. I asked her. She said no and then stomped to the bathroom with a pouty face. I’d get a second opinion.
If your policy is the same as ours, you're contractually obligated to stay a year or you have to pay them back.
There’s a tuition reimbursement policy written somewhere. You should be able to request from HR.
Socially speaking, no you shouldn’t feel obligated to stay.
Hey OP... what's the Publicis reimbursement? My office def does NOT let us know these things.
Definitely ask - I had an employee on one and there was no commitment to stay. it was almost a joke because the masters made her incredibly marketable [in strategy] and we didn’t have room to promote her. she ended up getting poached with 3 months left of school and there was nothing we could do.
Mine was you had to stay a year after a payment or pay it back. So I paid a year of masters classes when I left. That hurt
Wasn’t at an agency, but at my last place there was no requirement to stay - you could walk out the door the day you were done and people did. One of my grad school professors posed the ‘do you feel obligated’ question and said that we had no obligation, the company was getting the benefit while you were in school
Hmm, ok, good to know. And DP1, we get 1K a year, and yeah, it’s not really common knowledge or written down anywhere that I know of, which is why I did not know about this 1 year thing
Does anyone happen to know: if you do this but get laid off in that period, do you still have to payback?
We have to stay for a year or pay them back
I would assume it’s like relo - if you leave by your choice, you have to repay. if you leave by the agency’s choice (fired, laid off), you do not.
[assuming you are expected to repay]
IPG is like 2 years or something. Read carefully
Publicis is that you have to stay for one full year after reimbursement. If you leave before then you have to pay it back. The standard max they cover is the federal tax deductible amount of $6,250. If you got $6,250 decide if you want to pay it back, wait out the full year, or else ask for your new employer to pick up the tab on it. Most new employers will consider it
