I dress as I would for a big client meeting, to show I can clean up nice but also reflect the creative culture I represent.
Nice Jeans or pants like chinos or khakis, good brand and tailored. Nice button up, tailored. Spring for a good shirt with a fresh pattern. This is 100-150 bucks WELL SPENT. Soft, modern sport coat and sharp shoes (not sneakers unless you are a sneaker head then maybe you could explain it as part of your personal brand). Carry a pen in your coat pocket. If you are young and want to appear slightly more mature, wear a watch. Doesnt have to be expensive & should reflect your sense of style.
The guy already has the job, so a t-shirt shouldn’t bother you. You are looking for the job - show up like you care.
suit, no tie is my go to.
@VP1 they’re not interviewing for a client. They’re interviewing at an ad agency.
Jeans are definitely acceptable if they’re dark, nice jeans. Sounds like you work in some soulless corporate environment like DDB
Button up, Khakis, and non-sneaker shoes to match.
It never hurts to ask the recruiter or HR person who is helping you through the process. I usually go with something that I might normally wear to work but a little nicer
Nice dark jeans, some standout shoes, and a blazer - standard ad guy interview uniform
no. no jeans. not unless you’re a creative. we’re a pretty casual agency, but one of the things I’m judging is if I can put you in front of a client. and for most of my clients, that is not jeans.
to each their own. just saying the way you dress is part of the process.
and I’m at a boutique actually.
Totally agree it’s part of the process, VP1.
Can we also agree on the no khakis? :)
depends if they have pleats ? ;)
