I’m a Canadian citizen looking to move to the US for my MBA and then full time work. Would the immigration issues impact me? Getting scared from seeing all the stories on this bowl.

If it matters- born in India, living in Canada since I was 2 years old.

My understanding is that you will not have the same GC struggle because you’re Canadian ... it should be easier

funny

Oops totally missed the last line about born in India 🙁

Don’t worry so much. You can still work in US on TN and move back to Canada if something goes wrong on visa front. US is the biggest market - go for it - a newly minted Indian born Canadian citizen

Thanks! And welcome to the club 🇨🇦😊

Country of birth determines the struggle bruh. Unfortunately you will be considered Indian.

like

Don’t come to the US if you were born in India. Decades long wait for a green card. Can’t even buy a home man. Absolutely no stability.

likefunny

He can work on TN visa

I am just curious why you want to move to the US

likefunny

Better career opps and $$$, more fun to live in (esp while young), and much better MBA programs. Plan is to come back to Canada later in life though!

No exceptions even for the Canadian citizenship?! I mean I’m basically American lol.

Does it make the job hunt more difficult as well?

funny

Yep. Not just job, I know people who were born in China (even though they’re Canadian) who face extra immigration checks while entering from Canada

like

You just missed the boat by 2 years.

Yeah my parents thinking wasn’t long term enough

Your grammar tells me you weren’t particularly smart or outstanding in academics

Grammar = Smart Or Academic??

Edit- is there no way I can keep my Canadian citizenship but just continue living and working in the US? Don’t care about getting GC, citizenship, etc

funny

Lol It’s called TN visa - that’s your work visa. But if you wanna go down the GC rabbit hole you’ve gotta be on the H1. TN is chill tho

like

Get a TN visa.

like

Ignore all the naysayers. US is the biggest market and you will have more opportunities.

But don’t pursue green card or citizenship ( it’s a nightmare and your Canadian citizenship don’t mean shit to USCIS -country of birth). Stay Canadian and work in the US

like

Thank you! Figured it’s worth a shot, esp while young. And my plan is to stay Canadian and keep working.

Yes, please google CN visas. It’s specifically designed for what you’re looking for

Sorry sir, you will be in the same line as other Indians due to your country of birth. If your purpose is the just work, without thinking of permanent immigration to the US, then TN visa should work for you.
If you still want to immigrate to the US, marry someone born outside India/China/Mexico and then you can get Green card, then citizenship like any other person from rest of the world.

OP - Canadian here. Sadly, immigration in the US is dependent on the country of your birth. If you are born in India, you won’t receive any immigration precedence over a person who came from India even if you are a Canadian. I know it sounds ridiculous but that’s the reality. I’d suggest moving to Australia or NZ if you like warm weather and better job prospects.

In Canada currently. If you just want to work in the states then it’s pretty straightforward.

if you dont care about GC then get into queue after getting your i140...you can stay till you keep your job or get your h1 extended..could be anywhere between 0- 100 years

I applied for a job at Visa and was contacted the same day. A few days later I had a 30-minute screening interview with the hiring manager. I knew I was very early in the process since the job had only been posted for a few days. It's been 3 weeks and I haven't heard back, even after reaching out to the recruiter. Have I been ghosted or is there still hope? Does anyone at Visa have insights? Looks like there are a ton of jobs posted so maybe they are just backed up?

I have been working remotely since covid getting nothing but positive reviews. My company is not remote friendly and is now telling me I have to return to the office or I lose my job. Just curious to how my firms (wealth management/bank/trust) comp compares with others out there. I received a promotion earlier this year from an Investment Advisor, AVP to Senior Investment Advisor, VP and moved from $110K to $140K ($130 salary + $10K discretionary bonus) all in. By meeting expectations in 2 pay cycles, the base bumps up to $175K + bonus. Grown in this role over about 10 years with the same firm, MBA + CFA; top 10 city and living comfortably as dual income household.

Hello All,

I bought CER006 on Nov 21 with my current company email id and completed one certification. I am leaving my current organization and I still have 9+ months time left for CER006. My company says the s user id provided by them will get de-activated once I leave (in a week). I have not claimed the amount also. Is there any way I can transfer the certification to my personal email I'd so that I can write other exams in time left?

Wonder if anyone can offer advice on which cert to pursue next? I obtained my CompTIA Security+ last year and wondering if I should go for the CySA+ or Pentest+ next. I also have my AWS CCP and will be sitting for the Solutions Architect soon as well. Currently not doing security stuff at work but would love to keep my skills going. I was hoping one of these next certs will help me finally break into a security role and love the idea of pentesting but not sure if the CySA+ is more beneficial.
