Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase
McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

Edit : How good are my chances to progress without* an MBA ?
They Prefer MBA but that's not a mandate qualification. without any MBA i joined as an APM recently. I worked as BA, Sr BA and PO in past 8 yrs.
So ultimately you need the skillset and not PG. But if you have time and money, give a try from top tier institutions rather than doing for name's sake.
All the Best!!!
Hey, you can try for technical product manager roles if you engineering degree. These roles are rarely offered to MBAs in MNCs
Can someone explain what’s the difference between Product owner and product manager? For me a product owner is a strategic role and is someone who already grew in levels of product management roles and been there done that.
MBA does not guarantee good product skills, but can land you an entry interview. Any experienced product mgr will be able to tell you that. There are enough tools avl now to get a hang of what product mgmt is about - product school, coursera etc - which you should peruse. So keep acing it in your current role and look for opportunities at APM level - internal to your org or external.
MBA not required for a product manager role. Any of the online courses provide good details. However it's easiest to get into product management inside your own organization. Other customer facing roles help to get into product management.
MBA do for the experience not for this
