I’m a Software Engineer with 3.5 years of experience and I recently joined an MNC at 30 LPA (fixed)even tho i was aiming for something at around 45-55 CTC (for present exp) I couldn’t help myself but settle due to the situation i’m currently in.

I aspire to be among the cream of the tech industry but somehow i wind up knowing something i lack at the tech interview and then i spiral on self doubt.

We’re moving to LA next month and looking to buy our first home in about 18 months. We’re planning to do 10% down on a $1.8M -$2M home. Would it be smart to do a multi-unit so we can rent at least half of it? We’d live in at least a 2 bedroom unit. We’re new to the LA market, but I think there will always be a market for renters. Would it be better to use the money to buy a single family house with more rooms and Airbnb out the guest room? Any thoughts?
