I’m at a new place that’s hybrid. I haven’t been required to be in an office since pre-pandemic. My last job was remote.

I can confirm I’m useless in the office. It’s draining me and I’m not even getting anything done. I’m deeply uncomfortable in my “outside” clothes and the culture events pull me out of focus constantly.

Any advice to make it through until I can hopefully find another remote job? 😩

Like A1 said, headphones are what get me through the day. Also, communicating with my team and letting them know that I can't really handle distractions throughout the day, and asking them to email me if they need something, rather than constantly interrupting me. It may come across as rude to some, but it's better than losing your job because you can't focus on anything.

I actually had trouble at my last agency for exactly those requests. I anticipate filing accommodations eventually, but as expected as soon as I did, the downhill ride got steeper.

so much noise. My metrics were better when I was fully WFH; this hybrid shift is draining me of both energy and productivity.

Headphones help me. I also have workplace accommodations for remote work, which is a common accommodation for ADHD. Check out askjan.org, which is an advocacy organization who helps accommodations seekers with accommodations.

Thank you! I think I will end up filling accommodations. Probably better sooner than later.

Headphones help, until they don’t. I’m a wandering people watcher when I’m taking thinking breaks.

In a coffee shop? Perfect micro breaks. In the office? A habit of a gamble of making eye contact with the wrong person/thing.

Accommodations?

I was hoping to avoid since last time I filed accommodations, the way people worked with me changed completed. It’s like they felt like no one could talk to me anymore without HR, and as someone who NEEDS open and transparent communication, it was a shock.

I will likely be filling, with the knowledge that I’ll be on an island. Fine because I don’t want to be here long anyway.

I'm at a smaller MM bank. My original goal was to start here and hustle through into a BB, but I wasn't expecting to really like the people (my team, my direct seniors). I think the work we do probably wouldn't differ a crazy amount (we close deals, just smaller of course) and I'm wondering if I really have a reason to try to move into a bigger bank.

Anyone looking at traveling to Costa Rica? They have a list of states from which they will admit tourists while also requiring a negative covid test, health history, etc. As someone not on the approved list, I am bitter and curious why the population is grouped at a state level when there are massively different rates of infection within each state (not to mention personal responsibility) and you are already required to present a negative test. Any idea how often those lists get updated?

Wonder if anyone can offer advice on which cert to pursue next? I obtained my CompTIA Security+ last year and wondering if I should go for the CySA+ or Pentest+ next. I also have my AWS CCP and will be sitting for the Solutions Architect soon as well. Currently not doing security stuff at work but would love to keep my skills going. I was hoping one of these next certs will help me finally break into a security role and love the idea of pentesting but not sure if the CySA+ is more beneficial.

What types of work accommodations can help people with ADHD? I am starting to believe 35+ of having not managed my ADHD has really negatively impacted me in career growth etc. I'm realizing a lot of things about myself are because of the ADHD. I want better for myself and family but 1. I don't enjoy the same things forever 2. Imposter syndrome and RSD make me believe it's acceptable to start over in new places at low salaries. 3. Typical college won't work for me. 4. I also can't relocate.

Hi all, I’ve been taking 15mg XR in the morning and 15mg IR as needed in the afternoon for about 2 years now and it’s helped a lot, however, when I take time off I just feel so lethargic. I’ve read about people taking Wellbutrin as well. Anyone have experiences with this? I meditate and exercise as well, but I just lack energy and almost feel like the same things don’t make me happy when I’m not on my medication.

Anyone here struggle with drinking enough water every day? Growing up, I drank a lot of soda and fruit juices but since 2020, I’ve been trying to be one of those people who always has a water bottle. Anyone a manager? I’m recently diagnosed (26F) and I can’t help but beat myself up everytime I fall short of my to do list. Makes me feel like a huge disservice to my team. I’ve been trying vitamin D and working out, but it makes my “highs” and “low” SO extreme. The simplest things are so complex in my mind.

If anyone feels similar, how do you manage these feelings? I’m personally considering switching to an individual contributor role, but can’t help but feel like a disappointment if I do.

Hi! I’m a young professional with less than 2 years experience, started a new job 1.5 months ago. I’m having quite some difficulties on balancing out my response time to tasks. While I act incredibly fast if not immediately with some, I sometimes take 1-2 weeks with couple of hours worthy ones. Sometimes I ignore, procrastinate or simply other more urgent things come up to increase the delay. Also I work with 3 managers in my team which doesn’t help with expectations nor guidance. Any tips pls?
