I’m in-house at a small company (60 people), started right out of law school about 5 years ago. We had a legal team of 5 then. Everyone has left and we just hired a new GC. I went from $70k to $100k a little over a year ago. I am expecting an offer from a firm doing business law work but think this might be an opportunity to go to my current employer and ask for a significant raise, with new offer in hand. A councilmember would like to draft an ordinance allowing the general public to attend press conferences.  Currently, our local government does not have a policy regarding press conferences in place. But only members of the press are invited to press conferences. I’ve shared with him my general ideas about why I thought opening up press conferences to the general public would not be a good idea, he still wants to move forward. generally speaking, do government agencies actually demand more from you if you’re in a higher vs. a lower salary tier/division e.g., I vs. II, II vs. III, III vs. IV, etc.? Perhaps there’s a difference between maybe I and III but is there a significant difference in responsibilities and performance expectations between II and III, or III and IV for example?

I practice LGL. I plan on setting a meeting with my boss to discuss salary. I am coming up on a year in a couple months. I’m prepping for the meeting now. I want to put together a list of my duties, assignments, “wins,” etc. My plan is to have all of this on paper so that he will have a reference point and he can walk away from our meeting with all of the info I would like him to consider. How would you organize this document and do you have any other suggestions of info I should include?
