Im a government (municipal) attorney now. In it for the PSLF. Got 5 years to go but im ready to move to mexico now. My husband is in Mexico and im tired of being away from him. Need a government job I can work from Mexico so I can get PSLF. It absolutely doesn't have to be law. Im tired af but I'll learn something new if I need to.

Colleague has put in his resignation. They are offering him whatever he wants to stay including 4days a week work from home. He’s not bluffing and plans to leave. However, at this same time I was asked to begin working as a supervisor for the engineering team and I would get a promotion at the beginning of the year. I have been supervising and managing our team of 6 for months with no extra pay or bonuses. I was told yesterday that raises will be light this year. Yet today they spare nothing.

I’ve worked 2 years at a non profit 501c 3 tech startup. When I started there were 6 employees we now have 22. I am considered a part of leadership and am a people manager in addition to my sales role. I am a high performer and last year got a 10% raise (which I asked for). This year I was offered 5%. I am going to counter but curious what anyone thinks I should ask for. I was thinking 8%.

Currently going through divorce proceedings. I honestly don't want to date anyone right now but I have this fear that I'm already 28 and I'll never meet anyone good. generally speaking, do government agencies actually demand more from you if you’re in a higher vs. a lower salary tier/division e.g., I vs. II, II vs. III, III vs. IV, etc.? Perhaps there’s a difference between maybe I and III but is there a significant difference in responsibilities and performance expectations between II and III, or III and IV for example?

In the interview process for a City Attorney office position. Is it ok to reach out to a current attorney in the office to get intel? For context, I don’t actually have a connection to this person other than I learned through the interview process that they too are from my law school. High likelihood that that person tells the interviewers I’ve reached to get intel. Is it OK/fair game for me to contact this person or not?

Advice on giving notice to leave for private? I feel a lot of guilt both about leaving the agency and government, generally.

A councilmember would like to draft an ordinance allowing the general public to attend press conferences.  Currently, our local government does not have a policy regarding press conferences in place. But only members of the press are invited to press conferences. I’ve shared with him my general ideas about why I thought opening up press conferences to the general public would not be a good idea, he still wants to move forward. Anyone get public service loan forgiveness? The stats of only 1% qualifying is always wild to me. I know people have made blatant errors (not make sure their jobs qualify, not consolidating their loans, etc) but still....

Is it viable to change from litigation to transactional in a major metropolitan city? Looking to pivot into transactional from civil litigation but have an outstanding offer for a litigation position. If you’ve done it, do you have suggestions ??

I could use some guidance on how to transition out of firm life into a government role. Prior to law: four years working for a state and a city, and four years before that worked at a consulting agency strictly serving government agencies and cities/counties. I graduated law school in 2016, did a state clerkship, and immediately after I started working as a hearing officer. I’m looking to move to federal work and started applying. Is it unreasonable to think a GS-13 is a possible starting salary?
