Assuming you have the $ on hand, would also consider/compare any card sign on bonus vs. potential discount you could get on the ring from paying in cash upfront
No problem! Of course your partners tastes and opinions matter here, but my now husband and I were shopping together for me, and I was adamant that I didn’t need a big name brand (comparable band / diamond at somewhere like a Tiffany would cost ~5-6x+) and wanted lab grown, so great value for money ☺️
I also have the trifecta but I branched out to get the VentureX. I’m a really big fan. Their travel portal is pretty strong, a lot of immediately redeemable credits/statuses. DM if you’re interested and can pass referral link - believe it’s 85k miles if you spend 3k in first 3 months

If you’re already in the Chase ecosystem, I recommend taking out one of the Ink cards. If you aren’t willing to play that game, go Hyatt.
Great question! I would ask you what are your travel aspirations? Do you have specific hotels in mind? Since you will propose, where would you like your honey moon to be and how can you use points to help offset cash costs?
For me, I was targeting a Hilton and Marriott property. Since I already had a bon voy card, I got the Hilton aspire which with status, I got an automatic upgrade, free breakfast, and free drinks, so the card was worth it, especially with its resort credit.
I couldn't use bon voy points since it was right after a round of deflation. In hindsight, I would have looked at Amex plat to transfer for an upgraded foreign flight, so we could fly round trip in business class or first class.
Hope that helps and all the best!
Thank you! We’ve enjoyed Hyatt a lot for it’s point value when transferring Chase points. We live in Phoenix and fly AA or Southwest most frequently, so I almost considered the AA exec plat card but it’s pretty steep without a credit.
Don’t know where the honeymoon would be yet cause that’s too far ahead in my mind for now. Ideally would just go to a Hyatt resort or something lol
I highly recommend Venture X - it’s essentially no-fee bc you get more than you spend on annual fee. DM for referral or specific questions.
Following. I went with the Venture X and as a heavy traveler have used most of the benefits. My only qualm is that I still haven’t really been able to figure out travel partner transfers for domestic flights, especially out of smaller airports to larger ones — to really maximize on the SUB. I’ve heard that might be easier / better with CSP or AmEx and will be trying them on next. But I would definitely agree that VX paid for itself by now.
