I’m currently entertaining offers from two firms:
1. Client services at design studio
2. UX team in consulting firm

I come from a client services background primarily, but I am interested in specialising more in Experience-led transformation (currently the work is more Marketing / CRM and stuff like change management is ad-hoc) and leading clients in those types of projects.

I’m attracted to both (some of which I can’t share as would blow my cover) but what should I expect / how to decide?

How is work life balance on rwe data teams at pfizer? Are there timesheets for project work (similar to consulting)? Are teams generally friendly / collaborative or is it more competitive?

How can I try to get into VC? Particularly tough tech and things like robotics, automation, transportation, etc. I’m currently at T2 consulting in industrials and I’ve tried networking with a few VC firms in this space, but no luck.

I keep starting huge projects or hobbies and being intensely into it for about 10 days/2 weeks, after which I forget about it and the project just lays around my house for months until I get interested in it again or I toss it out/donate it. It was fine when I was living alone but my partner is seriously frustrated with how messy the house gets and how much I spend on supplies for these things. Looking for some advice on how to branch off into a job in tech. I’m a Mechanical engineer interested in working in a big tech company. I have some programming experience but excel mostly in mechanical and product design as well as 3D CAD. For startup founders/people with a successful side project: How did you get the idea/inspiration for your business? I’m currently working at a Series B startup and my end goal has always been to found my own startup, but I graduated from college 2.5 years ago and I still have not had any great ideas cross my mind. So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. This is pretty niche, but I have an emergency management background and am interested in transitioning to UX. However, I would love to find a way to combine my experience in disasters with UX research. How important was your portfolio to land your first UXR job? There are mixed messages out there...

I joined a project that had already started and the team already settled on creating a user journey map, even though none of them are designers or in ux. I also have no experience in this field as I'm a data engineer. The user journey map was for mapping out the process for tenants finding housing assistance, so not a technical product. Given this new field and type of work, I've been having a really tough time. Anyone mind sharing what helped get you through your first ux project?

I rely on my team through the projects they work on, and the insights they arrive at through the research/design process. I rely on listening to sales calls now and then. I'm curious what other tactics you have to stay informed?

How do you approach usability testing for new onboarding sequences? I work with a variety of SaaS businesses and recently requests have come in to test onboarding prototypes.

New users are the first to touch onboarding so how do I recruit the appropriate participants to test? Recruiting new users doesn’t seem feasible, I would think we should run A/B tests and cross-check analytics to measure success? Any insight is appreciated!

I'm looking for market research on startup founders. This is incredibly difficult to find via search engine, because Googling "startup founders" + [insert search term] invariably finds sites and pages dedicated to teaching startup founders about market research topics.

Specifically, I want to build an empathy map for them.

I think I may have finally had it.

A couple of decades in this field and now I want to just walk away. The grind in tech is soul-destroying, and the vast majority of the time, coworkers outside of UX have no idea what it is, what it’s for, and how it’s applied. I’m at my wits end and the constant problem is a kind of “willful misunderstanding” of our process and value.

After wasting too many years on design immature companies, It’s senselessly depressing. I’ve given away too much of myself.
