I feel like this about the entire corporate world. To be honest, if we're polled, I'm sure most people learned more about their job in the first 6 months on the job then they did in 4 or 5 years of school
It's really interesting that you mention chat GBT in this conversation, because if AI does not have a degree and yet it's treated better than those who do not
It's happening in other industries as well. I think one of the reasons why companies prefer fresh grads or with lesser exp is because they can pay them lower salaries. I don't know, but that's how I see it.
What's interesting to me is that in the current job market I've been seeing a lot of applications that will list no degree but will add an additional 2 to 3 years of experience when compared with someone that has a bachelors
Interesting. Although some might not list them as mandatories, when you apply online, the portals usually require it. If you leave it blank, you're segmented out of the candidate pool. Usually automatically. Which is funny (and sad) since we're told not to post jobs older than 10-15 years on your CV but somehow a BA from 20 years ago in Physical Education, Philosophy or Art History are still relevant.
