I’m feeling stuck and starting to give up. I have 5 years of experience in UI/UX, but I keep working as the sole designer in the team on small projects and I lack the skills to move to bigger projects.

I have no experience with design systems and user testing and I don’t know the best practices for information architecture. I feel embarrassed to not have gained the skills after so many years.

Any advice how can I get those skills? Should I do a course, hire a mentor? Any recommendations?

It depends on the type of learner you are. If you’re disciplined, you can learn skills on your own. I’ve gotten some AR and VR certifications online, but I work at it on my own time every day. Now I lead some testing at work and I’ll be teaching it as a side hustle at a college.

If you need someone to hold you accountable, it might be best to have a class structure or mentor.

It’s never too late to start learning. I got my MBA at age 50 so I could teach. We’re in a business where you can’t stop learning or you risk becoming a dinosaur. Good luck.

Hey all! I have an interview with
Deloitte in Regulatory Risk and more precisely in their Investment Management Services team. I would like to know if anyone

Is it the case here?
Thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Few tips to improve your visual design skills

- Learn Typography: Typography is essential because 60-70% of user interfaces are about written content displayed in a meaningful way.

- Learn Layout and Composition: You don’t need to be pixel perfect, but if you place labels 10px above inputs, you must do that consistently across your whole design.

- Learn Color: Color doesn't need to be complex. Understand how colors interact with each other and learn how color can set moods.
