I’m getting ready to return from maternity leave. Between being pregnant and postpartum, I haven’t worn real clothes in a long time and unsurprisingly none of my old clothes fit quite right and at this point aren’t things I want to wear style-wise anyway. What are some go to office wear items that you loved postpartum? Business casual or slightly nicer. Thanks!

Uniqlo for the win! They have loose flowy but structured dresses wore them through maternity leave and after

I’ve been loving the RealReal for clothes. I’ve gotten $2000 St. John’s dresses, Brunello Cucinelli cashmere sweaters, etc for less than $100 with the tags still on. I’d try things on for sizing but just shop there. The higher quality cuts and materials etc make a huge difference!

Ohhh that makes more sense, thank you! I am so behind on these things lol

I liked Old Navy stuff when I was postpartum, they have stuff that is inexpensive and nice enough to wear to work.

If you’re not back to your regular size just yet (still the case for me 6 months pp), I’d recommend rent the runway. Cute, quality brands like Frame, Veronica Beard that you can rent monthly and size down as your body changes

If you're not already, consider checking out Corporette Moms blog, they do regular features of mom friendly work wear (washable, pumping or nursing friendly, etc) and the sister blog Corporette had a feature on different tiers of work wear depending on how much you're willing to spend as you're building out your wardrobe again.

Personally, I binged on linen blouses for being a natural fiber, nursing friendly, and looking decent under a jacket and being on trend. Jcrew has Baird Mcnutt and you can find good deals with seasonal sale or lots on Poshmark. Pair it with Uniqlo pants with an elastic waistband in the back (or maybe a stretchy knit skirt if that's more your style) and you're good to go!

A lot of looser or knit dresses with a jacket on top! Quince has decent pricing for knit dresses, and I have one dress from the brand Current Air that I really love (they use a lot of tiny pleats and are pretty forgiving)

Newly postpartum I really loved AYR’s High Hopes pant (styled with heels and crewneck cashmere sweaters like one I had from Reformation). Slightly looser sweaters and cardigans also work really well for me (I have a Jenni Kayne problem but the Nordstrom Rack, Quince, JCrew, and Madewell or Sezane have better priced choices too).

like

Wide leg pants from Quince with NYDJ blouses. Like, I would buy 5 of each and go with that for awhile. Plus a few knit dresses.
