I’m considering this politics on the categories of education and intellectual property rights...should this be taken down? Well, what are you options?
You want to look at medical deductible and cost of hospitalisation (capped or a %) ?
You also want to make sure the hospitals you may use are in network.
If you have an obgyn ask them for recommendations, especially hospitals that will take a lump sum up front. That should get you a big chunk of expected deductible spend.
Also, most insurance is the same if the carrier is the same, it’s really just lower premiums but higher deductible vs higher premiums but lower deductible. I’m sure you get close to the deductible with a child birth, so might be easier to make higher premium payments but hit your deductible sooner.
Get the one with the lowest out of pocket maximum, you’ll hit it for sure with the moms checkups
For context, we got 72k worth of bills, 42k after in network discount and paid 3k total out of pocket maximum and maybe an extra 750-1500 in some extra tests we did for good measure which weren’t covered
Run the numbers to see what’s worth it. For a normal vaginal pregnancy, plan ~5k out of pocket. See which one is cheaper with the scenario you expect.
