I’m leaving audit as an S1, both my exit opportunities are smaller of course. One is a large regional accounting firm, the other is a smaller local accounting firm. I feel some fear downgrading in size just in giving up name brand and reputation, so I am curious on all of your thoughts on levels of downsizing. Things such as decreased reputation, training quality, structure. I do truly appreciate KPMG for the established, optimized, and opportunistic company it is and B4 are.

Is Valuation ( financial advisory) a good niche to transfer into? How’s the job demand and exit opportunity look like ?

In investment management at Deloitte. Wrapping up my second year here and looking to jump into a FP&A role/ valuation analyst. Is this a reasonable jump and what would salary expectations be?

Accounting advisory big4 or IA at F100. Both senior roles. Roughly same base pay.

Big4 has clear trajectory and interesting work.

F100 has 14% bonus, perm remote, and immediate vesting 401k over 7%.

I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.

Any thoughts?

UPDATE (RE: SoCal Assistant Controller Interview)

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.
