Hi Fishes
I would like to know about the client interviews (especially in data science or machine learning roles).
Are these interviews tough?
Are these interviews meant to assess technical knowledge? For example, what is binomial distribution, what are different data structures in python, ml algorithms etc.
I would request each of the nagarrians to share their thoughts irrespective of the technologies you are working.
I am thankful to you for taking time and helping me out.

I actually said this to someone the other day. I’m surprised at how long it’s taking me to find a new job I’m excited about. Sending positive vibes.

Thanks so much. Yeah, it’s weird to be better than ever but suddenly feel less hirable than ever.
I gotta say though, portfolio and CV is what get you the interview. What gets you the job is what you say/do during the interview itself. There’s a chance you might not be selling yourself the right way. Just a different perspective, hope it helps :)

For sure - one of the newer phenomenon in interviewing is the complete lack of feedback. Anytime I lose out, I ask for FB and never get any beyond “we went with a candidate more in line with our current needs”. So it’s hard to know where I may be misstepping. The ones that zing the most are when you walk away thinking you crushed it - all smiles and laughs and great conversation and then you get the “no”.
It’s likely not you, most networks have a hiring freeze and I assume indies are being more careful. Keep going, you only need one to say yes…
Feeling this too. Taking on some (underpaying) freelance work to keep myself busy while I continue the slog. I’m into month 4.

I’ve given up too. I work at an airport and drive Ubers. No coming back now.

No pressure. Less assholes.
Perceiver! Sending you positive vibes and extra energy to push yourself further and stronger. You’re gonna get a job soon!

Much needed and appreciated!
Too good to hire you 👀 Our GCD just left us and we still don’t have a replacement for him. But based in Asia though!
Beautiful gardens there. Do they need a producer? 🧚🏻♀️
Also, remember that the pyramid gets smaller as you move up. Few agencies even have GCDs. And then, assuming you’re looking to be ECD, there are even fewer of those roles. And then, within those roles, only a few places are creatively led enough that they need and can satisfy an award winning leader, with fewer each year.
So it’s less about you and more about long odds, which means a long time to find the right role. I think we’re trained to expect that we’ll keep moving up if we become perfect creative machines but every employee does not become CEO and you can be overqualified. The odds get longer with each step and topping out at GCD with plenty of awards is pretty great.

For sure. Great point. - tbh though I’d rather get demoted down to keep doing good work than be a g/ECD at a bad shop at this point. I still love the work.
You know those machines in a scrap yard that smush like 20 cars together to make them really thin? That’s the state of advertising

Yep yep. Feeling quite squished.

Are you too experienced and too expensive?
💓 keep on keeping on. Why do you think that ageism exists in our industry?
I am in the same boat. Except applying and getting rejected has killed my ambition. Just don’t care anymore.
Thank you ❤️
