I've had a hybrid role for the past 4 years where I get unlimited sick days (well 14 really until fmla kicked in), 3 weeks of vacation, 3 personal days. I am also given the week after Xmas off. if my toddlers are sick I can work at home with them. Interviewing w fortune 500 that offers 15 pto days that have to use for sick days too.Strictly in office job 9-5 and dress bus.prof. These bad benefits? Outdated culture?I am a seasoned professional. Seems tough.

I’m curious if you are also a woman because I don’t think a single man I know would think that, but many, if not all, women would.
They didn’t give you a solid “Yes!” Rather, it sounds like that offer is contingent on their budget. I would look around for back up and ask them if/when they will let you know a firm response so you can plan accordingly.
That makes sense. It’s hard when you’re invested in the team and are in this weird in-between place. It really is true that, more often than not, people leave employment (and stay) because of the team more than almost anything else.
I hope they have the funds to keep you on, but it makes sense to look for backup options.
I’m not sure if your relationship with them is such that you could have an open conversation about this. “Hey, I really want to stay but, if you can’t keep me financially, then I need to put out some feelers.”
Don’t feel guilty. They could have re-upped the contract right away and didn’t. Look out for you.
I’m a pro at feeling guilty and looking out for a firm’s best interest rather than mine, and it has come back to bite me many many times. Firms will always put themselves first. So you should too. It took me a long time to realize this and I know that guilty feeling is awful. I’ve missed out on amazing opportunities out of guilt of not wanting to “screw over” my firm
Rule number one OP, look out for number one. Inform the contract firm that without hearing of a full time position within the next 2 weeks you’ll need to schedule interviews to work elsewhere.
