I’m so tired of having ADHD. No one in my life understands how fundamentally exhausted I am from masking all week, pivoting between multiple clients during the day, managing my workload and the people below me, plus time and all the admin. They always ask me to do things on the weekend but can’t understand how I just need to lay in bed alone for two straight days a week or else I can’t function the other five. They get mad at me for ignoring them but I’m just so burnt out.

This is so relatable it’s uncanny. Just here to say you’re not alone.

Jumping on the wagon to say I’m right there with both of you! It’s reassuring to know there’s others out there going through the same thing . Getting through the week is such an uphill climb that I have nothing left to give on the weekend. Trying to get better at open communication with those close to me so they understand my limitations. Actively listening and empathizing with their needs is also important to make sure im focusing my limited weekend energy on the things that matter most.

like

I struggle with this constantly. My only advice is to start over-communicating about what you’re dealing with. People will either get the hint and back off or stop asking because they’re tired of the full explanation every time. I’ve found the people that really care about me will give me space and lower expectations once I explain everything I’m dealing with and how it’s negatively impacting me. It’s been a great way to weed out relationships that are unhealthy for me.

How much sleep are you guys getting during the week and what are some morning / night routines that have helped you be more rested?

Good evening all,
With my partner we are considering making a move to the countryside of Switzerland, with a gorgeous RE project offering incredible views on immaculate mountains and lake. However, it is far away, and will require 1h+ train/car commute vs. 10 min biking right now. We are scared it will bite us back at some point, although COVID helped w/ remote working being a new norm. The project will be done 2024, so I hope to have a more relax job by then. Any similar experience to share?

As of late, my work related anxiety has reached new levels and it’s really starting to affect me mentally. I’m part of a great team; I’m trusted and supported, have a great track record, there are no issues, and have been no incidents. Regardless, my professional self perception and confidence is so rattled as of late, it’s almost like a paralysis at times. I realize there are much larger problems right now, but if anyone has any tips or advice to get over this, I am all ears. Thanks all!

I didn't apply for a job that would have set me up for the future in the government. I wouldn't have to worry about money or future jobs. My boss had just given me a small pay rise and talked up the future and so I felt good. I now severely regret not applying for the job and cannot stop thinking about it to the point of insomnia and depression. I even contacted the employer but too late. It's a small town and rarely anything comes up. I hate myself and feel like I failed my family. :(

2. Is it wise to include health riders in insurance plan to claim for 80d or just chose health insu

Additional Posts in Lawyers with ADHD

After 4 years I want to leave law because of my adhd! I have been to 4 different firms and at each place I feel like I have been “found out”. At every place at least one attorney catches me about my attention to detail. I am so down on myself now. I can’t bring myself to care about small details that I know don’t actually matter. Sitting at a desk all day in word documents is the ultimate form of torture to me. My strengths are talking to people. I am super outgoing. Looking for a new career

One of the things that my ADD coach helped me with was realizing that I wasn’t prioritizing activities that help me feel recharged. Between work and home responsibilities, I was just burnt out and overwhelmed.

So now when I start to get burned out I focus on reducing auditory overwhelm, getting outside, listen to music, get comfortable, read a fun book, etc.

As we’re heading into the weekend, what are some things you do to recharge and give yourself a break?

One of my frustrations with myself (writing it out here so I can work on it) is that I will print out something that I need, such as a traffic collision report. I will read it without actually reading it. This results in spending time without actually retaining info. Does this happen to anyone else? I’ve found that I can actually focus when I truly force myself, but often this happens after I’ve discovered an error or an important piece of information that I should have noticed earlier.
