I mean, do they give notice when they fire people 🤷♀️ I know it's not professional, but if it's a bad environment, your health is WAY more important! We only get one life to live.
Hard to give notice I know, but having references is golden and needed down the line.
it’s wednesday so right now & be done next friday
If you’ve got another role lined up, I think two weeks' notice is still the professional standard. But honestly, if your health is suffering, it’s okay to have that conversation sooner. Your well-being has to come first.
2 weeks is the norm. Depending on the laws of the state where you are employed, a firm could have a separation policy that specifies the amount of notice you must give in order to receive certain benefits, e.g., accrued PTO. Check into that to make sure you don't leave any money on the table.
Please also read the book Burnout by Nagoski or find them (they're sisters) on any podcasts they did. They talk about the kinds of restorative rest you need to get back to normal.
Hugs to you. Burnout is hard and very taxing physically and emotionally.
A week
If you already have a job lined up, definitely give notice. Then take 2 weeks before starting the next job. Your physical and mental health should be a priority. Goodluck!
I gave a week once, that was too much time.
Quit now. If it’s a bad environment the moment you quit maybe the moment they terminate you. It has happened before. Also you need all the time to reset. Trust me I have been in your position. Burnout is no joke and can carry over to your next job. You don’t want that. Take the break. You deserve the rest.
