Additional Posts in The Worklife Bowl
I see several posts from people asking how they can help during these times with a few extra $$$ to spend. Here is just one of many ideas.

#stepuptothetable is about helping local restaurants who are struggling during these times. I have seen numerous linkedin posts with videos where people challenge each other to step up to the table & buy meals & gift cards from their community restaurants. A great way for those of us who are more fortunate to support business & keep people employed.

Then don’t join, why complaining ? Let them enjoy who enjoy.
Also OP, you can solve the client problems if you have clients first. So these interactions are a part of continuing the client relationship. You are underestimating or taking the client relationship for granted may be. If you are not actively bringing the client, you should at least be grateful that someone else is doing that job or you won’t have a client to solve the problem.
Where you”stand” depends on where you sit. As a leader, it’s not about what I want, it’s about why someone on my team might need. So these things are offered, as optional, so that those who need these interactions have them as an option/outlet. So if you don’t need or enjoy these activities - then please really feel free to opt out. But they will continue to be offered so your colleagues that want/need the break from the isolation have the choice to opt in.
Nope - people have kids, pets that need them, significant others they’d like to see. other introverts just need a break from all the video conference calls, others just want a drink in private. Zero negative thoughts about anyone declining. Zero

Do you feel pressured to participate? And when you do choose to participate do you have to stay on the vHH the entire time?
Whatever balance you had pre-Stay at home, try exercising that same balance with the virtual versions.

Then don’t participate. If it reflects poorly on you for whatever reason, then so be it. I personally think we do a lot of unnecessary things, so what is an extra hour of fake smiles going to do.

There is a lot of power in simple “No, thanks. I don’t feel for video”
