In your experience, are all the best salespeople absolutely insane? 🤣

It takes a special kind of person to be able to handle the wild swings, no?

You're right about this one. The best performers on our team never cease to amaze me. They work crazy hours and can talk all day nonstop. I love it though

I think so! A lot of sales peoples know how to deal with rejections a lot and go for a lead knowing that they will get rejected. So i agree, it takes a special kind of person.

like

You’re right! I truly believe a sales person job doesn’t start until you have to deal with the objection.

In the sales industry, you're either the mad genius type of insane or the basic and lowkey normie. I don't think there's an in between to this. We only operate to the extremes here.

like

The best sales people work hard, are well prepared, consistent in their technique and excellent at follow up. They also don’t let rejection get in the way of their success because it’s always going to be part of the job.

The fun ones are

A lot of the old school ones have very unique personalities

Borderline, yes HAHAHA! They never run out of their spunk and I have no idea where they get it from. If anyone has the answer to this, I'd love to know where I can get some for myself as well😂

LOL I'm pretty sure yes - there are some people I've encountered that I'm like...yeah, you're definitely not normal. Glad I'm not the only one!

Well. I think any profession has a certain number of people who are a little insane but most of the sales people I know are either pretty basic/stiff or just really out going

I am likely the most normal, reasonable, genuine guy in my whole org - and closed 19M in top line yoy

What type of sales are you in?

I think so too. They are crazy in a good way, I guess. Let's not include those who pull others down just to excel.

Nah if you’re trained well and know what you’re doing there ARE no wild swings

1000%

I think the best sales people are former collection reps because those guys are used to being rejected.

Def the most fun! But not insane- geminis all the way to catch all the swings.

Yes! I've always thought that good sales people have very eccentric personalities and are not afraid to show it 😄

Seeking advice: I am a young sales consultant and sales engineer working for a tech startup company. I have 6 years of sales experience. And I have been helping run my family business for the past 10 years. I was intially interviewed for a senior account executive position at a $70k offer. Instead they told me I needed more training and hired me as a Junior account executive at a $50k salary + commission. Today is my 6th month mark and I have done very well. And no talks of a promotion / raise..

Hello, first post here. Outside sales, merchant services/card processing. I’m primarily a welder but I work 4 10-hour shifts typically then I try sales the last three days. I’ve done it long enough to where I’m confident and comfortable going to new businesses, establishing some rapport with business owners. But it seems like a lot of businesses see this as a waste of time, even adding services and cutting costs. I guess either I’m looking for advice or considering not doing this anymore.

I am considering an offer for an AE role (UK-LDN) where the base is £42k & OTE is £70k. The Regional GM has verbally promised to move it up to £50k base if I perform well during the probationary period, but I can’t have it in writing on the contract. I’ve tried to counter offer but they said I’m currently maxing the salary band (L4). This role is exciting as I’d be the first UK employee, doing the full sales cycle & more but I had the same base and ote as an SDR. Is it too low? Do I take it?

I’ve worked in sales for 12 years (8 years retail sales and management, 4 years inside tech sales and management). I’m feeling the burn and looking for something else in the tech field. I’m making $140k. I have a college degree but no marketing, engineering, or product experience. What other departments/jobs could I jump to and still keep close to my OTE? I’m pretty good at Salesforce and have thought about a SFDC admin type role, but that’s all I’ve thought of so far.
