Interested in joining Crowe. Can anyone share current benefits offered? Specifically interested in maternity leave and retirement benefits.

Our maternity leave is on par with other companies. It covers the time period before you can use FMLA. Paternity leave is 6 weeks. 401k match is half of the first 5%. There is an aged based discretionary contribution (in normal years) that is immaterial unless you're 40+ I assume

Marketing keeps on pushing the cool aid!

like

Maternity leave is 12 weeks (14 for C-section) with the first 6 weeks (8 weeks for C-Section) covered by STD and the latter portion paid at 100% by Crowe. The STD portion requires you to take Week 1 PTO, Week 2-5 paid at 100% and Week 6 paid at 60%. The last weeks are paid at 100%. I've used this benefit 2x and it got much better from the 1st time to the 2nd - I do believe it's on par with what other firms offer.

How are you so unaware of what’s going on at Crowe?

This isn’t it OP

I wouldn't, they just laid off a bunch of people in a bad way.

Don't do it.

But since Crowe already fired so many, doesn’t that mean that they are better shape now?

funnylike

No - no one should want to work for an employer who doesn't have the decency to let people know in advance or even put out a statement. Plus unless you are white - it's not the best place to work. (Personal experience before anyone starts talking smack)

Dont do it

No age based contributions this year for 401k. Not sure what the maternity leave policy is but I remember asking a manager when I was interviewing what is one thing they wish Crowe did better and without hesitation they said they wished Crowe had a better maternity leave policy. I would be more worried about whether you will be on the chopping block if there are more layoffs honestly. A lot of people who had been with the firm for less than a year were canned on 4/15.

At some Big 4 companies there is a Partner / Principal group that has equity and are part owners of the business and an equivalent Managing Director group that does not have equity and are essentially employees.

How does it work at McKinsey / Bain ? Do those same distinctions exist across partner types, owner vs non owner?

Feel like audit scheduling is always done on a knifes edge in that the timeline and staff schedules are enough so that if everyone works 60 hour weeks and no issues are identified then it can be filed on time. But even small things that increase the work can wildly throw off the schedule and cause hours to skyrocket for the staff on the job. No real point here, just ranting.

Is it crazy to leave my job at EY to take a lower paying position in industry? I'm a recently promoted tax manager making about 140k. I've been considering going to industry for a while, gotten a couple offers, but they're all pretty low (<$120k). Honestly, the $20k difference isn't that much, but I've also been considering taking job that pay maybe $90k and doing work on the side (my own "firm"). But it also feels strange to accept such a lower salary. Thoughts?
