When I first left industry for consulting, I started asking around my firm about almost this same question. What I found is that this question is so broad as to be uninteresting to the people that are working in it and that could help me.
My recommendation is to narrow this down to what kind of technology and also what kind of supply chain. More importantly, what platform (e.g. SAP), skills (e.g. analytics), and outcomes (e.g. process automation) are you interested in.
You want to be in Digital Supply Chain. The role matters more than the company. I’ve been on both sides - consulting and industry (both on Ops & IT side); it’s almost always better to be on SC side where you partner with IT to select softwares, gather business requirements, design functionalities and implement / manage solutions.
