Let them know this and if they don’t want to increase the compensation and title decline the offer
Deloitte?

Under 3 yoe its difficult to get SC offer.

I understand and I do see your point. Lack of transparency and communication.
Pro
Just politely remind them of the expectations you had earlier and ask if there’s any flexibility meeting your target comp and desired title. If they won’t budge then reevaluate whether you’re willing to come in at a lower level or if you’re going to try your luck elsewhere.
I have my reasons laid out but I will decide after a conversation with them tomorrow and try to negotiate.
I would be irritated. I’d also pass.
I feel a Masters degree should start at Senior level
I’m halfway through a DBA with 2 MS and was given a verbal offer for consultant level even with 3 years of consulting experience.
And that too with zero context. 3 weeks after my partner interview, I just randomly got this email miles away from what was discussed in all 3 interviews & partner chat.
Seems that they want to bring you in as a consultant and prove that you’re capable of senior level work. Base on the interview the hiring teams you might not be ready for senior level work if I’m guessing
If you have those previous discussion in writing maybe share those and ask for more context. Maybe you didn’t perform well on the interviews. Try and find out as if it’s the latter this won’t change even if you apply to a competitor.
That’s ok but yeah try and get feedback. I’ve heard of other cases where the applicant gets an offer, but at a more junior level based on how they went in the interview.

I’m not sure where you’re at now, but 5k isn’t much of a disparity. Feel like you could easily negotiate that or more even coming in at the lower title. Should compare the ceilings at both as well, not just hone in on the present situation.
Pro
How much lower than current comp though
Don’t think of it as a negotiation. Frame it as having thought you and them agreed on expectation and this was a surprise
Yes most definitely. I won’t be like I’m here to negotiate. I’m approaching this as more of ‘this is not at all what we discussed and I’m a little confused’…
Would be surprised if you got an sc role
They have really expanded their role scope. Another peer got a SC role with 2 YOE in tech analytics and implementation.
Has to be EY, recruiter did a bait and switch when I was interviewing too
All Big 4 do this now a days. Not only EY
Don't respond to them. Let them come to you then reject it.
