I work for Cintas currently. The base is low, but they have good commissions. If you hit your weekly numbers the pay is reasonable. They also start you on a 3 month salary until you get your footing. If your commissions exceed the salary, you will get paid the extra commission.
I have been with the company for 2 years and have considerably grown my route in this time. I have generally been happy with the position. I finished the year well over the average for the position.
However, this week I was informed that they are “optimizing” the routes and that my route will be shrinking by 20%. This will be a substantial financial hit for me. I am not sure if I will stay with the company after this. I feel like my hard work has led to me being punished for growing a route that frankly was a lousy one when I took over.
Had I seen this post 3 days ago I would have had nothing but good things to say. I’m not sure if this answers your questions but I wanted to give you my thoughts.
Very painful that they are "optimizing" routes that you developed and it will impact your income. Maybe try to discuss your concerns with HR or look at other openings at the same company?
They likely received hundreds, if not thousands, of resumes. It may not be the business climate to negotiate much. Too many other choices for them.
If the offer was too low for you, just know that with hard work and successful skills, your earnings will be earned through commissions.
