Generating the offer letter takes a lot of approval. You can try to negotiate after that but don’t be surprised if you annoy some folks.
It’s a very, very solid offer. Don’t listen to these other people who don’t know what they’re talking about.

This is what you’ve said so far:
“Offer seems bad but I’m in a different industry”.
And then to my answer:
“Sure. Everyone is wrong but you”.
I have the salary grid right in front of me… I don’t need a rebuttal since you’ve done so well invalidating your own statement —- but, yes, please disengage.
I mean idk what tier 3 city means, but if it’s a cheap city that comp is prob the equivalent of like 4-500k in nyc or sf. So if that’s the case I’d take it - cities like that don’t have jobs that pay nyc salaries
Pro
12 Yoe - no - they took advantage of you. You did not say what level but yiu are underpaid.
Senior Manager Tier 3 City - just got the offer letter, you’re saying I should negotiate?
Rising Star
Feels underpaid. I was at 200K at 7 YoE
But I’m in tech
Yeah for reference I’m making $185K in a Tier 1 city but only have 5 YOE
Work across the deal continuum. A good number of folks do diligence work pre sign. About 60-70% of it is sign to close PMO though. Day 1 planning whatever that may be (separation or integration).
12 years of experience should be a director…
Def seems low.. I'm currently at 202 base as an M1 at D.
Manager? SM?
SM
You can ask for another 15-20k
We are on a cohort and this is for T3 city. No they cannot lol
But isn’t it like a cohort model? I don’t understand that - how is it the criteria set..
Rising Star
Yes, that’s a pretty reasonable request. Worst they can do is say “no”. We don’t pro-rate our bonuses — so as long as your start by mid January, you’d get something the following September. But, to your point, it would be the standard T3 —- so you should negotiate more in your signing bonus
I’m at EY tech consulting and a 2nd year manager, earning $175k base in LCOL. I think $202k is a little low for SM but Im not sure how much more to ask for
Gotcha. $202k sounds about right then!
I doubt they will go above this. Am in tier 2 city and was offered exactly what you quoted.
That’s likely SM2 Salary in T3 for Tech consulting, you might be able to get 5-10 more
Seems pretty reasonable for a SM in a LCOL locale — I’m presuming that’s where you fit given your description of Tier 3. Anyway, join, demonstrate your skills and angle for a Director promotion.
Is this SM role for PwC or Strategy&?
SM role at PwC
They negotiate on signing bonus but not salary. Definitely ask for both though.
Late to posting here. But in terms of bonus I would have negotiated. I received a 20k signing bonus at Senior Associate level 1 year ago.
Rising Star
I say its low salary
I got $40k signing bonus as an SM1 earlier this year but this was because I told the recruiter that I needed to “think about the offer” before accepting it..
Initial signing bonus offered was $25k, recruiter basically said that if I accepted the offer right there & then, they’d give me $40k. Done
