People who get PMPs are they type of people who would get a PMP
You spend a week memorizing phrases and then put PMP in your title like a doctor. It’s like those people who buy diplomas from diploma mills, only they’re proud of it
Only PiMPs get it

You must really hate PMPs lol

Here’s the thing, whether people think it’s worth it or not, firms want it. Hands down, almost 90% of consulting jobs preferred qualifications state they want an MBA, PMP, CSM, etc etc. So if it comes down to who gets hired faster, promoted faster or can earn a higher salary faster, then yeah, it’s worth it bc THE FIRMS THAT PAY YOUR SALARY want it.
I passed the test earlier this month. It’s not next to my name. It’s not on LinkedIn at all. I didn’t write a whole post about it and frankly, I hated the whole PMP process. But after 6 months of unemployment and seeing way too many postings asking for it, I bite the bullet, did the damn test and finally got a job offer after adding it to my resume.
Gotcha. Looks like it paid off then congrats on the mba too
I've wondered this....

I asked the same question in the bowl like a week ago and only got a few responses but most said yes. I work with people who have it and people who don’t, and see no difference in how good they perform so it makes me lean towards no. On the flip side, I think it gives you leverage when applying to new jobs. Some jobs might require it or prefer you have it but if you are a good interviewer and have solid experience/references I still lean towards no.
But!! If you plan to be a PM long term like that’s your life’s work lol then I don’t see why you wouldn’t get it. It’s the gold standard and alls it will do is give you points when applying to new jobs so there isn’t a negative. I do PM work as a management consultant but it’s not my necessarily my job description, so I prob won’t get it. It’s a mixed bag, do what you think is best!
If you are an engineer, yes.
Why would you?
Worth it to achieve what?
