Is anyone familiar with someone that’s taken a coding boot camp with someone like General Assembly and landed a job with no prior experience outside the boot camp? Trying to understand if the 15k tuition is worth it. TIA!!

I took a 10 week data science camp with GA soon after college. Got me essentially nowhere, but I also eventually decided it wasn’t the path for me, so it will probably depend largely on your own ability to leverage it effectively/network with the right people

I paid upfront, but I don’t think that’s the only option for them. What are you trying to learn?

For coding in general I’d recommend just making a GitHub acct and writing out a bunch of tutorials in it. Then try some independent projects with data from sites like kaggle. That would be the best way to start a portfolio IMO (but I don’t work in tech)

Learn Python the Hard Way is a great intro course with a lot of free lessons. Alternatives for a paid course could be like the flatiron school or prob some unis with online courses

I recommend against it, it’s best to learn yourself become a little hands on and then decide if it’s worth it, starting from scratch in a boot camp while seems logical might not be the best use of your time and money

Do you think culinary school is worth it? I've been a waiter for a year but really want to be a chef. The people I work with say to just start in the kitchen and work my way up but I think culinary school might get me where I want to be faster. The cost is pretty insane though. Any advice?

Will an MBA set me apart? I have a BS in Marketing from top 15 undergraduate business program with a 3.8 gpa, 2 years work experience (3 by the time I’d enroll), and scored in the 63rd percentile on the gmat. This qualifies me for an average business school (ranked below ~50). My goal is to move into a management position within the next 5 years and eventually move into a director or c-suite role. At your companies, do most upper-level marketing employees have an MBA? Is it from a top school?

Is it worth it to go back to school for a better track to a FAANG company? Not sure if the right spot but need help figuring out my worth. I am with a large real estate PE firm, mcol area, and I am technically in FP&A. Given my technical department, my skill set, and my actual work I don’t know where to start for understanding an appropriate salary. I have 5 years industry experience with both finance & tech.
