What are you planning to do with the land after you buy it? I mean it might be a good idea because property investing is a great investment but I think it depends on where the land is at and what you are going to do with it.

Probably need more detail to provide an actual answer. For now I leave you with ol’ reliable: it depends.
If you can find a reasonable priced lot and afford to float the taxes for the years you hold. Yeah sure why not. I would say in my experience a lot of the “future growth” value of the land in these “to be growing” areas of Austin are already priced in by those selling the land.
