Is it a red flag if during an interview the partner asks how your billable hours were last year? Could be just a standard question but I wasn’t sure.. I’ve never been asked that before in interviews.

I interviewed at KPMG, CTC part already discussed, I clearly mentioned I’m holding offer and I’m expecting 20-30% hike on my offer and he agreed and proceeds my profile.
I cleared 1st technical round and second round interviewers asked my expectations and same I replied. Then he talk very unprofessional and also he is explaining how much they have effort for conducting one interview and here you’re doing shopping. He ended the interview.
What about our efforts and time?

She was promised Director level and when offer came through it was manager, so she declined and was pretty salty about it. Is it awkward if I apply for the role? How should I approach it with my friend?

I applied for a role in Accenture. Gave the skill assessment test and also the technical interview. After the interview, the HR called within one week and asked for the details and expected CTC. I gave the required information. But after that the portal is still now showing as Interview/Interviewing. On checking with the person I got referral, I got to know that they are saying that I haven't attended my skill assessment. There might be any glitch. What should I do as of now?

Are there ANY Am Law 20 firms (even 50 and up), where billing 200 monthly is acceptable? Like any? Do tell.

Note: Some am law firms say no billable hour requirement, but that’s only because you bill 3x over.

I started at a v100 firm in NY 6 months ago from a regional firm in the transactions group. Since work has been slow I haven’t had too many opportunities to do good work for partners but I feel I have when given the chance.

However, one partner who is notoriously difficult has given me a number of assignments and is an extreme micromanager and know it all. Now when I get an email from him my stomach drops as nothing positive ever comes out of it. Does anyone have advice on coping with this?

I admit, as a fifth year big law associate it has taken me way too long to find a good memory devise for whether Supra or infra means “see above” or “see below.” But I found it and now I’ll share it with my other Latin-vocabulary-challenged fishies.

Anyone at a firm or in a practice group that has lately started to see hours level off a bit, or more success replenishing the ranks with lateral hires? If work leveling off — why do you think that is? People returning to offices or getting out more, so fewer calls and emails before 8am / after 8pm while people are commuting or at dinner / an event? If lateral hiring happening — why? Is your firm just upping signing bonuses or are they more creative than that?
