Is it a thing for recruiters to “rebate” a portion of their commission they make to you in exchange for us retaining them? Asking because I know this exists in real estate and I just used a rebate realtor to buy my home where I got a percentage of my agents commission for retaining them. This sounds like could be a great way for recruiters to actually gain our attention and business instead of the annoying cold calls and other bs. If it’s not common, sounds like a great business opportunity

If a recruiter needs to pay you to use them, then they likely aren’t that good.

Most recruiters are terrible and OPs point remains valid, regardless of ethics. People talk about the pie in the sky “good” recruiter, but they are so rare as to almost be mythical. In my newly 20 years of practice and working for various firms, I’ve see like 2 that I’d classify as “good”.

I understand this might sound a little snobby but I'm not trying for it to come off that way. I've been around impressive people throughout my adult life.
