Is it best practice to send a thank you email after an interview? Or is that outdated?

It would be sad if courtesy was outdated. I would personally send a thank you.

Learnt from school always sent one

I appreciate when I get a thank you email. It doesn’t happen very often so it’s definitely something that makes a candidate stand out in a good way

likehelpful

Send it, but make it meaningful - reference part of the conversation you had, mention some additional research you’ve done since the discussion, thank the person for specific advice, etc

Sending anything better than nothing…. Good luck!

If you do it, don’t use AI. I cringe when I get those.

likehelpful

Definitely send it. It shows you care, and it does go above and beyond what everyone else might do

Talk to your recruiter on what the proper practice is and what expectations are. If you aren’t using one then I’d probably send one. It’s better to be courteous and safe than not do one and people thinking you don’t care.

Not required, but definitely could help you stand out by going the extra mile

Always

You're a new manager with direct reports. One of your directs is very determined. You consider yourself a good manager so you want to help them grow. They are killing it and taking on an enormous of workload, and executing flawlessly. Do you let them continue killing it? Ask how they're doing? Or warn/advise them on how to avoid burnout?

I have issues “delegating” or simply assigning tasks, which as a Manager is a whole thing. Like I feel “bad” asking my people to do things that i know i can do but shouldn’t because it’s not up to me. When I assign a task i try to be super clear with instructions, give examples, help them get started…but I still feel bad. Idk. Anyone goes through this?
