I also found working with recruiters that they have a set of employees they work with and try to fit you in with their set of employers looking to hire, even if they don't align with what you truly want. It's better to do research on your own. Recruiters are typically paid a large commission for finding talent so they do try push you through the process quicker without truly thinking of what can best benefit you.
Increased access to the hiring team. Although from my experience you usually don’t have as good negotiating power with a recruiter. They want to make sure they close the deal and could push you to taking a lower salary to do so. Also sign on bonuses seem rare when working with a recruiter.
