Nope. But what are your L.A. options?

How’d you know lol — Kirkland, STB

I’m from the west and went to law school in NYC. Anytime I started getting tempted to stay out east (and there were plenty of times), I would just remember 1) how impossible it is to watch sports on eastern time, and 2) how uncomfortable July-September are, especially on the subway.

Having said that, living in NYC for a few years was a blast. Spring and fall are fantastic, Christmas time is great…it was fun. But wouldn’t return unless making 7 figures.

So no not crazy to turn down Cravath, especially for your options. If it were Wachtell that would be different.

I actually disagree. The winters aren’t as bad. But at least New England gets more pleasant summers.

depends on your options, but i would lean toward k&e or stb if looking to do transactional work

I turned down DPW for Kirkland LA. Would have turned down Cravath for DPW. Happy to chat.

No. The odds of making equity partner anywhere are slim to none. Focus on staying in the location you want.

So here is my dilemma:
- based in the UK
- opportunity for lateral internal move (culture&engagement) or stay where I am (reward). I am mid level IC struggling to progress due to flat structure so considering lateral move then hopefully up from there.
- 2 primary aged children, currently have flexibility in current/new role too
- Husband just got accepted on a international rotation which means I will be single parent for the short term.

What to do? Go with the unknown or coast comfortably?

Now that the craziness of 2021 is firmly in the mirror, what is your class year and when do you normally stop working at night, on average? For me 6 to 7 is the average. Have to wake up at 5 or 6 a.m. one or two days a week to make that happen though and it may not last through Q4..

My question is - how can I tell if I'm doing well? More specifically, what common and avoidable mistakes (specific or general) do trainees make, and what attitude or actions impress you?

Recently overheard some associates complaining about another trainee and now I have the fear... I want to get this right. Thanks in advance.
