It’s difficult because there are sooo many PMs out there trying to find jobs. Your competitors will likely have experience in those industry’s you don’t. So make sure you differentiate yourself in other ways
Assume their interview before you AND after you both have extensive experience in that industry and sell yourself.
It can be a challenge. Companies tend to look at the whole experience within the same subject matter so a switch to non-medical field from healthcare can be a disadvantage. The market right now is tough and competitive.
Not at all. As long as you understand processes and timeframes, go for it.
Mentor
It’s harder than it should be - managers tend to overindex on subject matter expertise, which is the easiest part of the job to learn. Demonstrate your understand of core PM principals and how you’d leverage them to get a jump start on the role. Assuming you can get past algorithms that are told to lean towards industry experience.
