I’m not from an English speaking country but I am watching a tv show and businessmen walk into a room and instead of greeting eachother, everyone says each person’s first name in lieu of hi, however in my experience working in the states, I haven’t seen anyone do this, it’s always hi or good afternoon or some other greeting first THEN they say their first name. is it also appropriate to omit the greeting?

I’ve been working for a small investment firm for about a year and am having some issues with my boss. We have a weekly check-in but he’s ALWAYS 2-3 hours late, or skips the meeting altogether without warning. He also never replies to any of the emails I send. I already spoke with him about these issues, but things haven’t really changed. I really like the work I do but I’m starting to feel frustrated about the situation. Any advice? Sharing some thoughts I’ve had lately:

The end of my suffering occurs with the death of my ego. I am reborn when I surrender to life exactly as it is, right at this moment (and it’s always “this moment”). I can begin to grow when I either accept life as it is, or I change my life because I can’t accept it. The better I become at surrender and acceptance, the more I experience serenity. After a long enough time I realize I’ve had a spiritual awakening. Now I am peace / joy / love.

So I have been seeing a guy for 4 months. We have a pay disparity.. he earns less than I do (by quite a bit). I couldn’t talk my partner out of buying a vintage watch. It’s a 1970s manual Vendome model that we got from Analog Shift in SoHo. It’s been a month since she got the watch and now she’s noticing that the watch keeps losing time even after winding it a couple of times a day.
