Is it rare to be an Associate Director by 30? I got hired at this level at 29 and feel like I have a solid runway for advancement since I’m already where I am. My boss told me she thinks I will have a lot of opportunities to advance as well.

Food for thoughts…unlike other functions within a biopharma, the legal division remains relatively small. So, not sure how fast your career trajectory will be.

I was told to expect not less than 2 years before I could reach director. I’m not in a “legal” role or the “legal” department though, compliance is a separate function. My team has 10 lawyers but the department probably has 20 more people who aren’t lawyers.

Hello, I’m an associate (almost at the one year mark) at a midsize firm on the EPL team. I did about 2 years of employment law as a clerk during school and know that’s what I want to go into. I’ve asked for more EPL work but keep catching PI cases. I second-chaired an employment trial but don’t see any EPL work for the foreseeable future and wasn’t getting as much EPL exposure as I wanted before the trial. Any advice on a lateral move to a bigger firm with a broader range of EPL work?

Personally I am happy and love the work but fear for my career progression.

I think this offer is well below par, but curious to hear what you guys think/if you have any comparisons?
