It is. You’ll still get a large pay bump despite the title downgrade and it’s worth it for the exit opps. Some B4 stans might be hesitant about the move because they’ll lose their title but at the end of the day honestly being a B4 SC pays worse and provides worse experience and exit opps than a MBB analyst. It’s a no brainer to only switch down 1 level. 2 levels would make me think about it. 3 levels probably not but could be worth it under the right circumstances. They have much faster pay and title progression which makes up for any initial deficiencies.
I mean EYP is a step above your standard B4 but below the T2 shops so it makes sense...
It is. And it makes sense. It was a hard decision for me but I’m glad I did it because the ways of working are so different I would have been CTL my first review cycle with a manager role at McK. Instead I’m a rock start as an associate with a robust tool kit. I was able to dedicate my time to learning the McK ways instead of trying to survive leading a team with completely different methods.

This is the norm. I’d say people who are PL tend to have the most issues with it but...
Coming in as a manager is incredibly difficult because you don’t have any senior level relationships, so it’ll be near impossible to get staffed. There are also cultural differences on what teams expect (both upwards and downwards) that are harder to learn if you’re dropped straight in.

I was a relatively new Manager at Accenture and left to join McKinsey as Associate. Despite the down tick in terms of title, made EM earlier than most. The path is also faster/more accelerated at McKinsey, along with pay. So in that sense, it was worth it to me.
