Is it too late to consider or even get an opportunity to interview for a strategy consulting role as a manager? I’m in FSO Advisory at EY and have been working primarily on reg reform projects.

I’m contracting with a company in an admin role, but sometimes I’m asked to do projects that would normally be outsourced to a marketing or design company like designing a flyer for example. It’s not in my job description, but I have the skills to do this work and so why not ask me to do it? Is it out of the question to ask if I can be paid for that work under a separate fee as a consultant or something? Is that even possible?

I have an interview with Korn Ferry for an associate principal role and am curious about others’ experiences have been with work-life balance here. Also, I have an idea of what I should be compensated in this type of role, but any insights on how they pay compared to others would be helpful. Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? Had conversations with 3-4 teams so far, many times great feedback/compliments even during the team matching chat, but no successful match yet. I've become really jaded about consulting. I find all so often you need to tell the client what they want to hear to keep their business and I feel like so much of the what I recommend doesn't actually get implemented. I'm looking to make a career switch so I can both create and execute on my strategies. A product management path seems very promising for this.
