Hi fishes,
I am planning a switch so was going through some salary data for a software engineer. My ex-senior manager recommended me a website: Growceed.com which helped me a lot in getting clarification about a lot of things but I am in doubt whether the average salaries of software engineer mentioned on Growceed.com really that much in top MNC companies.

Hey guys! So I’m starting to get interest in joining the FAAS sector within EY. My recruiter is asking me which part I would like to join, Finance or core/commercial. Does anyone have any insight on which might be better for growth, hours, work life balance etc? Would love to hear your thoughts EY

You'll have to climb the ladder again and develop relationships at new firm to get paid more. But if you think you can, go for it.
Personally, I think it's too big of a hastle without a significant pay bump. How big is the signing bonus? :) Maybe negotiate?
That’s what I’m negotiating. It needs to be sizable for me to make the jump
Would you lose out on any vesting at Pwc? Feels like a lot of hassle and risk, but if the signing bonus is substantial than maybe
Good point. I’m not fully vested so I’ll need to put that into my comp model
Idk if it is worth lateraling without a bump in comp unless you 1.) are about to be counseled out or 2.) hate your time at PwC
However, if the signing bonus is >$10K then it might change my answer!
I don’t hate my time here and I’m actually in a good place with my current team. It’s just getting my repetitive and I need a change of scenery with the right comp increase. Saving for a house right now with my SO. It’s more $$ driven decision than anything else

Depends entirely on size of bonus. If it’s a 50k sign on, then yes, if it’s 10-20, then probably not. You’ll be giving up a lot to get the post tax of a bonus that is gonna cost you a transition.
Agree. Asked for more. Not worth the lateral move otherwise

Yeah not worth it unless the sign-on bonus is like 100k.
Yeah that all makes perfect sense, I actually really like my team as well and am only passively looking, so it would similarly have to just make too much sense financially not to pull the trigger. Best of luck and be interested to know what they came back with!
Do you have a retirement account you can borrow against? It’s not ideal but you’ll pay yourself interest and it’s a good way to get liquidity when in need.
That’s some good insights M2. I actually didn’t think about that but good backup plan to tap into my retirement account if needed
