Yes it’s bad form. Many companies have a section for HR to select “provided 2 weeks notice” or “rehireable”.
I’d say 2 weeks is standard. Just maybe work less the second week.
But arent we "at will" state? And when employers dont give 2 week notice to fire ppl how do they expect 2 weeks of full work week
Sure we are “at will”. But a company will only fire you without notice for outrageous ethical violations.
They’ll often put you on a PIP (which is several weeks/months notice that you’re slipping) or provide some form of notification & severance if you are laid off due to the economy (ie no fault of yours).
A courteous company and employee will provide two weeks notice.

Can you take vacation then put in your notice? The last week can serve as your transition.
I have heard of ppl been given 1 week notice to leave...there has been no violation just firing to reduce workforce during covid!
Give two weeks. Companies almost pay out severance of more than that when they let people go, but that shouldn’t be relevant. Giving less will burn bridges. People talk. A lot. Do you really want people saying, “he/she really left us hanging when he/she only gave a week’s notice of quitting which didn’t provide enough time to properly transition?”
