Is the jump from senior accountant -> senior financial analyst a tough transition? I feel I have perfect capabilities but I’m in the dark about what FP&A entails. I know the basics (forecasting, planning, analysis, etc). Just curious as to what qualities a successful candidate should have. I’m extremely curious and genuinely can’t wait to learn.

How do you have perfect capabilities if you don't know what FP&A entails...?

Talk to the FP&A team about the job responsibilities, network, and be first in line when a role opens up. A friend of mine at my current company recently went from accounting manager >> FP&A manager. To be fair, their FP&A role is more dependent on accounting than mine, so the switch was not terribly difficult.

Ok maybe not perfect lol. But I’m great with excel, have the accounting knowledge, and I’m a great people person. Hoping the change isn’t too hard

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.
