McKinsey & Company Hi all! Any fishes at BCG and/or McK have time to chat sometime within the next few days/weeks?
I’m a consulting analyst at Accenture, really interested in strategy work (mainly tech/software clients but open to all backgrounds) hoping to make the jump some time next year. I’d very much appreciate connecting to understand your journey with the firms and the work you do.
Thanks in advance, and happy holidays!

Imho, it’s the biggest scam that is out there
OP - DM me for details if you want. Happy to see what might make sense. Just because it’s a scam, does not mean it’s useless as like with the Emperor’s New Clothes, no one (especially companies) are willing to call it out
As long as your company pays for it, it's great! Many PM roles mark it required or preferred, so it's win-win as long as you're not paying the outrageous exam fee and you have an easy way to maintain it with PDUs.
What BAH1 said is useful. Personally, the Army paid for mine, so it was free in some instance! 😂
I found it to be a fantastic program that really helps you to organize all the elements of project management.
That said, companies don’t care.
Unless it’s federal and required, or some of the largest manufacturers, it won’t move the needle.
Mine was paid for and received a $1000 bonus for it.
Yes and no! It solely depends on the field you are in and of the company requires it.

What C1 said. Some companies prefer that people in the PM role have it.
Meh lol PMIisms are so unrealistic imo. So in terms of practical application its a joke. It only seems worth it if your job requires it for advancement. I just accepted a manager role and Im not certified. I took the test last year and failed horribly 😂. Added bonus they completely changed the material this year so with that Ive always thought it was a joke because unless you just passed, your “education” in the subject is outdated. The PDU credits are also a joke imo.

I've found that the combination of real project experience and the academic perspective of PMI is a helpful combination. I'm never pulling out the PMBOK guide but knowing the fundamentals does help run a project.
However, I've never noticed any situation where the credential itself did anything for me.
Good question , people have gotten benefit if company requires it & covers it. On the other hand, it’s helpful to know the content of pmp + hands on project but it’s not worth taking the exam. Weight out the pro and con in your situation that best fit
Lol it’s a useless cert however it gets your name in front of recruiter
Tbh experience is better then any certs
Most certs are just smoke and mirrors
