Does anyone work at a firm that does not offer year-end bonuses? I’m currently at a 25-50 person firm in a major market (CA) that mostly operates on big contingency cases. There were firm-wide paycuts at the beginning of Covid (still in effect). I’ve billed in excess of 2,000 hours and am feeling both cheated and a real lack of motivation.

Anyone else experience anything like this? Recommendations (other than leaving)?

Follow the scholarship money or follow your heart? Given W vs full ride at t10. I love W (people, location, vibes) plus I’m a lil vain so want to go with the W but looking at the earnings reports, starting salaries are equivalent. Is there really a long term earnings different? Any good recommended books on how to build a scalable product and team? My mom has been sick for nearly a week now (fever, fatigue, nausea) but isn't able to get help or tested because she doesn't have respriatory symptoms...yet. Our numbers are definitely underreported.

So I'm at an agency and 80%+ of my time is new business. Pitch, win, set-up/semi-service until we get hires, move on to next pitch etc. (w/ fair share of losses too, of course). But I'm burned out. And while I'm valued, I don't see a return on my investments: personal time, my heart (I'm all in) and professional development. I get rewarded with small spot bonuses sometimes, but not a commission. So do I try to pivot to a real bus dev position? I feel confident I could. Anyone seen this done?

Extraordinary brands / procurement still believe that a pitch can be run without ever having a call or in person meeting. If you can't explain your business needs then why should an agency invest into the pitch.
