Chief
Check the policy
At the Sands where I work, employees need to have worked for the company for 12 months before they are eligible for paternity leave. However, each company's policies may be different, so it is recommended that you check with the company's HR department to make sure you understand the specific policies and regulations. Maternity leave policies vary by company and state regulations. Under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), eligible employees can enjoy 12 weeks of unpaid family and medical leave, but this benefit is generally available to employees who have worked for the company for 12 months and work at least 1,250 hours per week
The minimum legal standard to qualify for FMLA leave is that you must be employed with the company for at least 1 year. However, companies are absolutely allowed to be more generous. Work with your leadership and benefits team to see if you can figure out a way to take at least *some* time off, even if you have to stagger the time vs. taking consecutive weeks/days.
We get it day 1
Depends on the company. At my previous one we had someone join and go on mat leave twice within the first year.
At our firm, you need to be there for 90 daus before you can take the full time. Otherwise, you may just not get the full leave.
