EY1 you’re an idiot if you can’t figure out how to have a positive cash flow with 160k salary. Learn to live within your means.
Nahhhhh
Also echoing D1, $160k is definitely a lot of money and can live above average if you can budget accordingly (even with NYC). There are other places (JC/Hoboken/Weehawken/etc) that you can definitely get by and still travel to your work location within NYC. If you’re making $160k and can’t budget accordingly (and have dual income w/ marriage), then that’s pretty bad IMO... and if you can’t... then something is wrong, but we don’t know the whole story either. I just know if I was making $160k, I’d definitely be living a helluva lot easier than right now
We are underpaid. Deal with it. Go into more debt like the rest of us. Im a senior manager making 160k and I'm still cash flow negative.
Dude think you are missing the point, we were originally trying to help the OP, but clearly it has shifted to you. You’re in denial that negative cash flow is okay. I can refer you to a good book to help you called: managing money for dummies.
NYC..... The reality is that being a SM is not a great job. Can do way better in industry. SM is all about making partner.
I get that you want to make more than $160k...and that the COL is high...but you've got to manage your money better and live within your means.
Sure thanks I'll def do that
@OP same advice. Have less expenses. It's the best side gig because it takes way less time than exchanging your time for money on top of a job in public accounting.
Rather than struggling in NY, why not move to a low cost city having better life quality.
Because I was born and raised in NY and I like it here.... And I'm going to make partner and make 800k a year.
