Hello - hope everyone is having a great weekend. I'm looking into risk assurance opportunities at Meta, especially Application Manager, Controls (min 5 YOE) and Manager, Compliance (min 12 YOE). I am a Senior Manager with 9 years of IT risks assurance experience. Does anyone have any thought on which position I should apply? If anyone currently at Meta could share your experience, that would also help. If anyone is open to providing referrals, I could provide my background. Facebook (Meta)

I think there is a lot of turnover in IA, especially nowadays. Companies would rather start someone at senior and then move them up to IA manager/director.
So it doesn't seem like you quite have the experience of how it is in industry. It's very much my experience as someone who has been in industry for a few years that everyone needs seniors, few people need new managers/directors. If a manager/director retires then they may look at their seniors to promote one but it's not as common an occurrence as in the accounting dept let alone accounting firms.
I am only talking non financial services. I have no idea what it's like at banks because I've never been in that world.
There is usually a fair amount of upward mobility in internal audit and IT audit/risk roles in the industry. However, the number of Manager/Director level roles available may vary depending on the organization and the type of role. Additionally, some roles may require more experience and/or education to move up the ranks. Ultimately, it is important to do your research and to understand the qualifications and experience necessary for different roles in order to maximize your chances of success.
Upward mobility in internal audit/IT audit/risk in industry varies depending on the company and the industry. Generally speaking, however, these roles tend to have less senior roles available than other positions, such as accounting. This is mainly due to the fact that the roles are more specialized and require a certain level of experience and knowledge to be successful in the position. As such, it can be difficult to move up in these roles without gaining the necessary experience and skills. That said, there are still opportunities to advance in these roles, and many companies offer development programs and mentorship opportunities to help employees progress in their careers.
