It really sux that by 4 they can already say such hurtful things in anger like I’m never hugging you again, you’re not my daddy, im never talking to you etc.

I was quite taken aback when my 4 year old started saying these. So I made a pack with them - every time they said “I am never taking to you again” I could kiss them, “you are the worst” I would tickle them and with “I hate you” I would just freeze till they said the word “love”.

It’s been a year now and it always works. It take about 10 seconds and they just flip back to normal and fun.

They never mean it. Just part of the being a dad/parent.

This is a great idea - thank you

I’m sorry to hear that. You already know this but just remember that they don’t mean it, it’s just anger manifesting itself in words.

Keep being an awesome dad and all will right itself as they become more mature and self aware. You got this!

At least they are using their words to communicate. Use it as a teaching opportunity to use better words. “When you do X I feel Y.’ If you don’t do it now, the words will be much worse at age 14 (or not there at all).

My daughter used to greet me with “GET OUT OF HERE!” When I walked in the door from work. It really hurt. It only lasted a few months but it felt like an eternity. Hang in there!

Hi everyone I am relocating to Hyderabad next month. Even though I look forward to meeting new people I can’t seem to ignore the fact that I will move away from family. My family situation is already complicated, my mom and dad are not on good terms so we don’t live together and when I move it’ll get worse. I am financially independent but I feel guilty for not being there for them. Is there any possibility of getting transferred to Gurgaon office(a lot closer to my home)if I talk to my manager?

A relative is raising a teenage son with her ex-husband. They have joint physical custody. The ex-husband has re-married. When the son is in his care, he often leaves the son at home in California with his (new) wife when he travels for work (which is often). The relative wants her ex-husband to leave their son in her care when he travels out of town but the ex-husband disagrees. The relative wants to know her chances of prevailing if she were to appear in court on this issue. Thoughts? Thanks!

I am wanting to start the adoption process. I reached out to pathways to parenthood for information first from my personal email. Question about inclusion…. I’ve been teaching inclusion for 5 years so I’m still a newb, but a first year coworker of mine said she got points off on her observation because her kids were scattered in the classroom and she was having to move from kid to kid to assist. While I see the point of putting them together for convenience, I don’t agree with this at all! To me this is like singling them out by putting them all together instead of INCLUDED amongst peers. What do y’all think?
