Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

As I'm sure you've noted, no one had responded to this post. There's a very specific reason why- you need to put more effort into your networking approach. Being on a tool like Fishbowl and posting, "Please direct me" is not enough. Are you a recent high school or college grad? What is your academic background in? What stage are you in your career? What about radio interests you? Are you interested in talk radio, sports, news or music? What is your dream role? What position do you see yourself in? Engineer, producer, host? You need to consider these questions and bring them to the networking table. Your answers can shift and change with time, but us folks who have been in the game cannot point you in a direction without you giving this more to thought. Half of making it in this industry is initiative well executed. The other half is who you know and meet along the way. Good luck.
I worked in radio for more than 25 years. One thing I can assure you of, is, it ain't like it used to be! I think there are less jobs, less creativity leeway and well to be frank..it just isnt any fun anymore. But, one question is "why" do you think you would do well? What is it about you that you feel would help you to excel in radio? Do you have that "DJ" voice? or wit or what? I would try and nail that down to see where you fit in. Like the other guy said, have your goals and talents mapped out. For me, I always thought being on the air would be "it." Then after a couple of years actually on the air. I discovered I have a much bigger talent and desire to be in a production studio. So, nothing is in concrete...yet...lol. Best of luck to you. It can be a very memorable experience.
