I’ve been at my job not quite a year. My office manager every few weeks keeps bringing up performance “issues” of things some legit and resolved and other not legit like not my task. I’ve been told as of next week I can no longer work at home my 1 day a week. Meanwhile we have a much younger man who is my peer who sleeps at his desk during the day and does no work. He can come and go as he pleases! I’m looking to quit. Is this work filing an EEOC complaint? Or threatening one?

It doesn't sound like you're being treated fairly, but taking it up with HR/office manager that's already on you for "issues" probably will just make things worse. I have experienced and seen situations where bullying and bad faith opinions are taken as evidence and justification for official actions (write ups etc). In most states employers have a lot of latitude with hiring and firing. If you've only been there a year, just cut your losses. Spend that energy on finding a new job instead of fighting to stay at a place that wants to treat you badly.

Also, bringing this up with HR and then being fired, could be considered retaliation. I would mention that your co-worker is sleeping at work and coming and going at will.

smart

Not sure exactly how big your office is (i.e., total employees and attorneys) but in our office, our assistant and I share (most) all tasks (even though she is still technically training). Complaining to the office manager about something not being your task, is not going to get you anywhere but on the "not a team player" list. As for the legitimate performance issues you need to work on, learn from them and move on. If you feel that you've performed something well and the concern is not warranted, then share that in a professional manner. Do not waste your time worrying about another employees performance as that won't get you anywhere either. You might come off as trying to do the job (or complain about) of the office manager.

Filing a complaint with the EEOC will not help you find a better job. And that suit will get you absolutely NO WHERE. Leave it be and move on. They WILL miss you when you are gone because of the sleeper.

What types of work accommodations can help people with ADHD? I am starting to believe 35+ of having not managed my ADHD has really negatively impacted me in career growth etc. I'm realizing a lot of things about myself are because of the ADHD. I want better for myself and family but 1. I don't enjoy the same things forever 2. Imposter syndrome and RSD make me believe it's acceptable to start over in new places at low salaries. 3. Typical college won't work for me. 4. I also can't relocate.

So I’ve been with a court for a while and honestly the pay sucks compared to what paralegals should be making… the benefits are great though and they match my retirement 100% now that I’m vested at 3 years.I have 4 kids and 1 is getting ready for college. I feel like the benefits are great but I’d rather make more now. I am a previous LEO for 4 years who switched to paralegal so I have my leo retirement. Paralegals here make $28 with no benefits what is a good compromise

Are there any fully remote lawfirms, ie you don't have to live in the state they have offices? I recently left a large lawfirm to go in-house which came with a huge paycut that is not going to be sustainable long term, but needed a remote position to be able to move. I'd like to keep my current job part-time but get back in a lawfirm too.
